Practicing with the Zorn Palette; Black, Cad Red Middle, Yellow Ochre and white. Self portrait. Also this is the first time working with a grey gesso on board. I did like it. I don't like white gesso. I usually end up tinting it, which led to uninspiring results. The grey is worth exploring. I'll be doing more of these. THe colour combinations are quite varied for a small colour palette.
Out with the Al Fresoe's December 10th. We were painting at Viaduct Flats, Victoria. Beautiful Morning. I favor a 6x12 (or proportionate) panel for some reason. The piece turned out. I am working on value differences. I lean to a darker value set in general. I have to make a pointed decision to check the value at each step of the painting. The back ground is dark to my eye it doesn't sit back in the panting. New brush in the box a Dagger from Rosemary and Co. in England. Beauty eh.
Glencoe Cove-Kwatsech Park, Victoria. Beautiful day but cold. I got a good start but brought it home to finish. Lucky to live in a environment that offers this kind of view.
Started this one last week. Oil on Panel. 18x24 from reference photos taken last summer in Jasper National Park.
This is a Plein Air sketch from November 24. View from Government House Victoria, BC. Looking towards Washington state.
